A complete brand strategy, naming and a bold identity for a unique Ukrainian space start-up building the smallest orbital rocket in history.

Context and challenge

PROMIN AEROSPACE is part of our agency’s DNA: this is the project that began our official path in strategic branding. The request sounded like science fiction. An ambitious Ukrainian space start-up, backed by venture investment, was developing a technology that could change the global aerospace industry. A brilliant engineering team had gathered around a young, progressive founder to build the smallest orbital rocket in history. Creating a brand for this “new force” was a dream project — and it demanded a radical break from industry templates.

The main market challenge was the deep conservatism of the SpaceTech niche. Historically, it belonged to slow-moving state corporations and military giants with strict, cold communication. The new Ukrainian player had to enter the global arena not as one more contractor but as a true game-changer — one that democratises space and opens access to orbit for dozens of countries and private businesses. Our task was to build a complete brand strategy from scratch, develop a unique name and design a bold, authentic identity that reflects the product’s unique physical characteristics and breaks the industry’s outdated stereotypes.

Transformation

The strategic stage began with research into the niche, a close look at the product, in-depth competitor analysis and a search for the one point of difference that would set the start-up apart from global leaders. The rocket’s key distinction was its environmental cleanliness and zero waste: in flight it burned up almost without a trace, leaving no dangerous debris or fragments in orbit. This engineering elegance inspired a short name with deep meaning. After dozens of options and brainstorms, we found it: “Promin” — Ukrainian for “ray”. It reflected both the revival of the Ukrainian school of space engineering and the essence of the product. In geometry, a ray is a line that starts at a point and extends to infinity — a perfect analogy for the self-consuming (autophage) rocket.

The next step was to give the idea visual form. We wanted to move away from dull corporate imagery, so we found a bold graphic solution that balances subtle intellectual humour with a sense of technological breakthrough. The concept overturned the idea of what a space company should look like. It showed the team’s openness, boldness and readiness to speak to investors in the language of the future rather than the past. We developed a unified identity system, a minimalist colour palette and a set of presentation materials adapted to the strict criteria of venture funds and international aerospace forums.

Results

The result was the launch of Ukraine’s first fully commercial, bold and strategically protected space brand. We built a unique positioning system that clearly separated the start-up’s audiences: the public sector, commercial projects and scientific institutions. The new brand platform gave the company strong internal drive and a clear manifesto that immediately set it apart from traditional market players.

The strategy and the recognisable identity became key tools for raising the project’s value and attracting investment worldwide. The brand helped the start-up win international grants, succeed in technology competitions and make its mark on the world space stage. This debut case proved that the right strategic branding can take innovative Ukrainian technology from bold engineering drawings to the status of a visible global trendsetter.

FAQ

Does a start-up still developing its product need a brand?

Yes — and this is often when it matters most. Investors, partners and first clients judge the team before the product is ready, so the brand must explain clearly what problem you solve and why you deserve trust. For a tech start-up, it is a way to talk about the future in a language people understand today.

How do you find a name that conveys the essence of a technology?

The best name comes not from a list of beautiful words but from the product’s main advantage. For PROMIN AEROSPACE that advantage was a rocket that burns up without a trace and leaves no space debris. The name “Promin” (Ukrainian for “ray”) joined the image of a line heading into infinity with the revival of the Ukrainian school of space engineering. Our naming service helps you find a name like this for your product.

How do you stand out in a conservative industry with cold communication?

Not by copying the leaders, but by deliberately breaking with industry templates. When everyone speaks the language of state corporations, a bold and open brand stands out at once. The boldness needs a strategic basis: at PROMIN AEROSPACE, an identity with subtle intellectual humour reinforced the image of a technological breakthrough instead of distracting from it.

How does a brand help attract investment and grants?

Investors see dozens of projects every day, and the advantage goes to those whose idea is easy to understand and remember. Clear positioning, a strong name and professional presentation materials show that the team is mature. The PROMIN AEROSPACE brand helped the start-up win international grants and make its mark on the world space stage.

How long does it take to create a start-up brand from scratch, and where do we start?

The full cycle for PROMIN AEROSPACE, from niche research and strategy to naming, identity and presentation materials, took 4 months. The timeline for your project depends on its stage of development and the scope of work. Send us a request, and we will discuss your idea and goals and propose a realistic work plan.
