A premium brand created from scratch, including naming and visual identity. A strategy for the high-end market segment and the launch of a new philosophy.

Context and challenge

MONTRER was born from aesthetics, ambition and a wish to go beyond the usual small-business templates. A talented client came to us on a recommendation. She had a growing private practice as a stylist, offering bespoke tailoring and creating refined evening dresses. The request was clear but specific: a conceptual boutique brand with an impeccable sense of style and premium positioning. The business rested on the founder’s strong expertise, yet she deliberately chose not to name the company after herself, as is so common.

The project had to move fast: the timeline was extremely tight and expectations were high. The most delicate and longest stage was finding a unique name that would reflect the founder’s inner world and still sound like an independent international premium brand. Through in-depth interviews and strategy sessions we searched for the right business model and built a shared vision of a project that would speak the language of haute couture, nobility and creative freedom.

Transformation

The naming insight came from the founder’s love of French culture and language. The lines of meaning came together in a unique name — MONTRER (French for “to show, to display, to express, to reveal”). It captured the philosophy of the atelier and of individual style. The next challenge was the graphic form of the name and the image of the future brand. The name begins with M, like the owner’s name, Maryna, and the brand mark had to reflect this connection.

Seeking lightness, fluidity and sensuality, we wove subtle hidden symbols into the graphics: the silhouettes of a tape measure and scissors, the essential tools of the craft of making the perfect garment. We developed a positioning system and precise descriptors, and created a noble colour palette of soft textures, contrasts and light tones. The branding covered premium touchpoints, original patterns and the communication core, giving the project a prestigious, inspiring tone of voice.

Results

The result of our express collaboration is a living, refined and strategically protected premium boutique brand with a clear international vision and a unique selling proposition. The brand platform solved the immediate business tasks and inspired the founder to take on bold entrepreneurial challenges, giving her unshakeable confidence at the start.

The new MONTRER brand entered the market successfully and opened in a cosy studio in central Kyiv. A month after the launch, russia’s full-scale invasion began and forced active development to pause. The crisis stopped operations, but the meaning and visual resilience we designed remain a solid foundation for the business. For us, this case is a symbol of pure creativity and of our belief that true craftsmanship and refined Ukrainian products will continue their story on the world stage.

FAQ

Does a small atelier or style studio need a brand?

Yes, especially when clients choose you for your taste, individual approach and feel. A brand makes this visible: a client immediately understands what you offer and why it is worth the money. For a small business, it is the shortest path from “a good craftsperson” to a recognisable name.

Should you name the business after yourself?

Your own name works if the whole business rests on you and you don’t plan to scale it. If you want to create an independent brand that can grow, be handed over to a team or enter the international market, it is better to have a separate, unique name. That is how MONTRER came about: the name reflects the philosophy of the atelier, not the founder’s name. If you need a separate name, we will help you find it through naming.

How do you create a premium brand in a small niche?

Premium is made of details: the name, visual style, tone of voice, materials and service. Everything should sound and look like a single whole, without random elements. In a niche it is important to define clearly who you work for and not try to please everyone. Strategy helps you find that precision.

How does a brand platform help if clients come through recommendations?

Recommendations work better when it is easy for people to explain what makes you special. A brand provides clear words, an image and a style that clients can pass on to friends, and that you can use on Instagram, on your website or in private conversations. This is how word of mouth grows stronger, gains a solid base and becomes predictable.

How long does it take to create a brand from scratch, and where do we start?

We delivered the MONTRER case in an express format in 4 months: from strategy and naming to visual identity and the communication core. Timelines depend on the complexity of the task and the speed of approvals. Send us a request, and we will discuss your idea and goals and propose a clear work plan.
